Oil companies set petrol, diesel and cooking gas cylinder prices based on the prevailing international crude oil prices and the value of the Indian rupee against the dollar.

Motorists and housewives have been shocked by the hike in petrol, diesel and cooking gas cylinder prices last week after 137 days. As a result, petrol and diesel prices are rising daily.

In this situation, petrol price in Chennai has gone up by 76 paise to 105 rupees 94 paise per liter this morning. Diesel is priced at 67 rupees, up 67 paise.

Motorists have been suffering from rising petrol and diesel prices over the past few days.
