Disappearance of Tiphaine Véron in Japan: her brother and sister will publish a book in June

by time news

The brother and sister of Tiphaine Véron, a French tourist whose disappearance in Japan in 2018 remains a mystery, will publish a book on the subject on June 2, publisher Robert Laffont announced on Monday. “Tiphaine where are you? », by Damien and Sibylle Véron, is « an immersive account of the investigation » carried out by the elder brother and the younger sister of the disappeared.

The young woman, aged 36 at the time, disappeared in July 2018 while visiting Nikko, a city near Tokyo, famous for its shrines. Epileptic, she had left her hotel without her suitcase or her passport, for a walk.

Unsuccessful searches

“According to the elements of the Japanese investigation, the Frenchwoman would have left her room in the morning – her last wifi connection point dates back to 11:40 am. Problem: we cannot find his trace on any video surveillance image”, note the authors in the presentation of the book by Robert Laffont editions.

Careful searches carried out on the spot by his relatives yielded nothing. And the judicial investigations carried out in Poitiers and in Japan are at a standstill. The family criticizes the Japanese police for the lack of resources they have devoted to the investigations, believing that witnesses have been neglected and that the criminal trail has not been seriously explored. She also unsuccessfully asked the French investigating judge to go there.
