Petrol price in the country has gone up by 76 paise per liter and diesel by 67 paise per liter today. In Chennai, a liter of petrol costs Rs 105.94 and a liter of diesel Rs 96.
After a gap of four-and-a-half months, petrol and diesel companies have been raising petrol and diesel prices since March 22. As a result, their prices increased for the 7th time on Tuesday.
Petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state.
Meanwhile, the central unions went on a second day of general strike today, demanding that the public sector companies not be sold to the private sector and that the price hike on petroleum products be scrapped.
