Ultra-violent assault on a security guard at La Défense: what we know about the suspect arrested

by time news

Police custody continues for the man arrested Monday, in Sarcelles, five days after the savage attack on a security guard at Quatre Temps, the La Défense shopping center. Verifications concerning this individual, originally from Congo, are currently underway according to the Nanterre prosecution. These checks relate “to his identity” but also to “his role in the facts” which occurred last Wednesday, shortly before 9 p.m.

The 38-year-old man currently in police custody was arrested late Monday afternoon, close to Sarcelles-Saint-Brice station, in Val-d’Oise. He would have been recognized by the agents of the Ile-de-France network brigade (BRF) who had the portrait of the alleged aggressor of the security guard. The man deemed violent, is already known to the police and justice. From the station, the suspect was therefore followed discreetly to Sarcelles where he was arrested without difficulty before being placed in police custody for “aggravated willful violence”.

The motive for the beating still mysterious

The violence was captured by the mall’s CCTV cameras. The images, very impressive, first circulated on a few messengers before going around social networks. We see the 62-year-old guard, a former Thai boxing champion, lose his balance after taking two violent punches in the face. The agent then collapses, his attacker throwing himself on him. On the ground, without the possibility of defending himself, he then receives a deluge of blows to the head before being left on the ground, inert.

For the time being, the reason for this beating, of incredible violence, therefore remains as unclear as ever. According to our information, the attacker had been taken out of the shopping center by several security guards before returning, quite vindictive, a few minutes later, to “fall on the first comer”. The victim, a former Thai boxing champion known and appreciated by many regulars at the mall where he has worked since the early 1990s, did not have time to make the slightest gesture. He had transported Foch to the hospital very seriously injured.
