3 tonnes of ration rice seized: Two arrested in Kanchipuram

The two were arrested for smuggling ration rice in Kanchipuram and police on Tuesday confiscated 3,200 kg of rice from them.

The Civil Supplies Department received confidential information that ration rice was being smuggled behind the Pachaiyamman Temple in Sirukaveripakkam. The police led by Inspector Sasikala went there and checked. He was then transferring ration rice bundles from one vehicle to another mini truck.

When they were questioned, it came to light that he was trying to smuggle and sell ration rice. A total of 3,200 kg of ration rice was seized from them in 64 bundles weighing 50 kg. Police have registered a case in this regard and arrested Appu (A) Ilangovan (23) and Gadhi (22) from the area and are conducting a serious investigation.
