The birth of a “mermaid” is rare in Spain, doctors are stunned

by time news

Spanish twin births have made headlines due to their rare and almost one-time nature. Statistically, the birth of Spanish twins is a rare occurrence that occurs once every 80,000 births.

A “veiled birth” is also called a “mermaid” birth in which the baby comes out while still in the whole amniotic sac. The amniotic sac is a thin sac filled with fluid that surrounds the fetus during pregnancy and helps protect it, regulates the temperature and maintains its body heat.

Unlike a normal birth in which the amniotic sac is torn at the time of birth, in this special case, a small baby, who is a twin, was born this week by caesarean section in a veiled birth, when the amniotic sac is still intact and not torn and envelops her.

The incident happened in the eastern Valencia of Spain. Doctors have successfully delivered the twins to a hospital in the city of Winros. The gynecologist and midwife, Anna Taylo, who won with great talent over the complex caesarean section was full of euphoria from the rare moment.

Taylo told Spanish television: “Today at the hospital we underwent a veiled caesarean section of a twin. There are amazing cases that remind us why we work in this profession.” Taylo added that she was fascinated by the class: “A veiled birth is a miracle. It happens about once in every thousand births. The twins were born healthy and whole. To all future doctors, remember: at every opportunity you can meet a new miracle.”
