ZAPORIZHZHA IChechen President Ramzan Kadyrov is the leader who pacified Chechnya on behalf of Moscow. He did it when he was not yet thirty, shedding hectoliters of blood. Now that he’s approaching 46, holds control of the Caucasian republic with terror and Kadyrov likes that everyone knows, he feeds his black legend through video, like an influencer.
Neither Kadyrov nor his men, the kadyrovzky, have never waged war with guns and tanks. They are a riot, internal control force. Give them a prisoner and they will torture him until he talks. “I am a Putin infantry soldier,” he has repeated modestly for years. In this month of war, Kadyrov is no longer enough.
In Ukraine, his men appear to have military police duties (“Containment platoon”, that is whoever shoots deserters) and roundup. They know how to enter buildings, sift through a neighborhood and are therefore very useful for “cleaning” Mariupol from the Azov Brigade still barricaded in the city.
The Chechen president loves to perform. Two weeks ago he was at the Kiev front: “We are 20 kilometers from you Ukrainian Nazis, surrender or we will finish you.” Last week, he was already in Mariupol. First he announced that his boys had taken over the town hall. Then she prayed to Mecca, in the pitch of a RosNeft gas station. On Sunday, he hugged the commander of the Russian 8th Army, Lieutenant General Andrei Mordvichev. “A few days and we’ll clean up the city.” Another clip shows the assault of his kadyrovzky on the skeleton of a Mariupol palace: infernal barrage fire, compact array behind an armored vehicle firing with a cannon. It looked like a movie with the camera in line between the brave Chechens and the gutted windows from where the sniper was supposed to shoot. On line? The kadyrovzky crouched behind the armored car and the cameraman totally exposed? In fact it was a movie. In the first few frames you can hear shouting in Russian: “Strilayte, strilayte. Snimayu ». Which means: «Shoot, shoot. I’m filming ».
If there was a “fake” stamp, all the apparitions of the Chechen president up to now should be stamped: fake. These are videos edited by mixing real images with old ones or in different places. A usual expedient for the kadyrovzsky who in fact have earned the not very martial nickname of tiktoker for their desire to appear on social networks.
The Chechen president may never have been at the Kiev front. Even the Russian defense ministry said “we don’t know”. He was probably still in Grozny, his capital, in a cellar. The

joked about a warrior sporting € 1,500 Prada boots on the front, beautiful for heaven’s sake, but not very suitable for running.
The Mariupol municipality captured by his people was a peripheral detachment and even the prayer was a bluff: in Ukraine there are no RosNeft distributors. As for the embrace with Lieutenant General Mordvichev, the poor fellow was killed 10 days before the alleged greeting with Kadyrov. Fact checking could continue.
The Chechen leader has probably been near Mariupol for a couple of days. He met the president of the independence republic of Donetsk and visited his most trusted kadyrovzky in hospital, injured just yesterday in Mariupol, that Ruslan Geremeyev suspected in the murder of Boris Namtzov, Putin’s former challenger.
During the trip to the front, Kadyrov was accompanied by warriors broken at every violence and by a boy with a beardless face. The war tiktoker camera pauses for a long time on its foreground. He is the son Adam, 14 years old. Already victim before anyone shoots him.
