Sending of the first energy vouchers: who is concerned?

by time news

5.8 million households should receive this aid, separate from the “exceptional energy check” of 100 euros which has been paid in recent months.

New aid should soon end up in the mailbox of 5.8 million French households. The sending of energy checks began on Wednesday 30 March, and should continue until the end of April. This aid, which is aimed at households that can prove a reference tax income (RFR) of less than 10,800 euros, is of a variable amount depending on resources. It thus ranges from 48 to 277 euros per household and must enable eligible persons to pay electricity or gas bills.

The energy check of 44 to 277 euros is therefore paid at a critical time for the purchasing power of households, which is still weighed down by the rise in fuel prices. But not everyone will receive it simultaneously. It will be sent to eligible people in stages, depending on their department of residence (see table of government mailing dates).

Progressive sending

This assistance is in addition to theexceptional energy checkof 100 euros that the government had decided to put in place at the end of last year. If it is the same households that are targeted by the two checks, that of 100 euros is not permanent and was intended to make it possible to cope with the rise in energy prices which has been observed at the world level, and which is now further reinforced by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In this context, GRDF has urged the French to reduce their energy consumption by “turn down the heat slightly“. But Jean-François Carenco, president of the Energy Regulation Commission, weighs: this type of effort is not required of households who are already struggling to heat themselves for lack of means. According to him, it is necessary to putkindly and calmly» to reduce consumption when possible.
