Doha: Qatar’s electric bus race is fast gaining momentum with the goal of eco-friendly transportation that is environmentally friendly and green. The Alganim-City Center route has been converted to a fully electrified bus route only. This is the first time an entire route has been electrified. Muwasalat, a public transport company, said only electric buses would run on the route. Less than a year after the charging station was set up at Karwa bus station, a route will be fully electric buses. By the end of this year, 25 per cent of buses used for public transport will be electric buses.

Most of the buses purchased for public transport during the World Cup were electric buses. Muwassalat plans to convert all buses used in public transport and government schools in Qatar to electric buses by 2030. Qatar is promoting electric buses as part of its efforts to maximize carbon emissions and ensure economic growth and environmental balance. Qatar has announced that it will minimize carbon emissions not only in transportation but also at gas production plants.

Doha Metro; Control on the redline

Doha: The Doha Metro Red Line will no longer be in service on April 2 and 8 as part of technical improvements, Metro officials said. However, alternative arrangements have been made so that the journey is not disrupted. Metro Link buses will ply on the Red Line route. The restrictions will be imposed on Saturdays and Fridays as part of a system improvement in the metro network.

Instead, the Metro Link bus will run every five minutes on the Ras Bu Fantas-Lucille QNB route. The shuttle bus service between Hamad International Airport and Ras Bu Fantas will run every 15 minutes, Metro officials said. The Metro Link bus will have no stops at Qatar and Al Wakrah stations.
