The weapons stored at the nuclear reactor in the city of Chernobyl could explode at any time; Ukraine has therefore warned Russian forces to leave the city immediately.
The Russian-led offensive in Ukraine has been going on for more than a month. Many major cities in Ukraine have come under Russian control. However, the Ukrainian military continues to block Russia’s attempt to seize the capital, Kiev.
The city was not easily captured by Russian forces as Ukrainian troops were fortified around Kiev. Thus, the Russian military has stepped up air strikes on Kiev for more than a week.
Meanwhile, the Russian army recently captured the city of Chernobyl in Ukraine. The city is home to the nuclear reactor that crashed in 1986. Currently, the Russian military, which is stationed near the reactor because it is not operational, is said to have kept its weapons in the area. In this case, the Ukrainian government has strongly warned Russia about this issue.
In a Twitter post, Ukrainian Prime Minister Irina Verschuk said, “Russia has weapons very close to the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. Russian forces must leave the city immediately, “said Tariq al-Hashimi, the party’s secretary general.
