Professor Abdulkareem Masadi, the hospital’s founder, said the robotic cyberknife technology could be used to remove tumors in areas of the body that are difficult for surgical instruments to reach through radiation therapy.
Surgery can be performed without pain. Cancer expert Dr Salam Yanak said the new system would allow patients to leave the hospital on the same day as the operation. Cancerous tumors of the head, neck, spine, kidneys and liver can be easily cured by robotic cyberknife radiation.
The cost of the existing follow-up cancer treatment will be the same as that of the new treatment. COO Dana Masdi also attended the press conference.
