Jeddah: Saudi Arabia has banned the import of poultry, eggs and their products from the US and France due to bird flu. It is based on reports released by the World Organization for Animal Health on the basis of international reports on food security around the world.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has banned the Chamber of Commerce from banning poultry and its products from the US states of Delaware, Kentucky and the Mayal region of France. Bird flu is endemic in the United States and France.

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia banned the import of chicken and eggs from the Danish region of Denmark and the Stavropol region of Russia. This is in the wake of the deadly avian influenza.
