The Chess Olympiad will be held from July 27 to August 10 at Mamallapuram next to Chennai. Minister Meyyanathan said that the Tamil Nadu government is actively involved in the arrangements for this.

The Chess Olympiad was introduced in London in 1927. The competition is held once in 2 years. China won first place at the 43rd Chess Olympiad in 2018 in Georgia.
The 44th Chess Olympiad is being held in India. This is the first time the tournament is being held in India. Chennai is proud to host this tournament.
The match was to take place in the Russian capital, Moscow. The match was moved from Russia because of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Despite the efforts of many countries, the tournament was held in Chennai in collaboration with all the District Officers of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the All India Chess Federation Committee due to the zealous efforts of the First Minister MK Stalin.
It has already been announced that the tournament will be held at the Star Hotel in Mamallapuram next to Chennai.

There are 75 Grand Masters in India. Of these, 25 Grand Masters are from Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.
On that basis we would like to inform you that Chennai is the chess capital of India.
With this competition the hospitality of Tamil Nadu is to go anywhere in the world. The First Minister has taken this as a very important task. This historic match is being held in Tamil Nadu and not only the Tamils but the whole of India is proud of it.
