by time news

This is information that should delight all cycling fans. The Tour de France, the main cycling event, will be entitled to its documentary series by the beginning of 2023. Like what is done in Formula 1 with the “Drive To Survive” series , which has revived interest and audiences in Formula 1 since 2019, Netflix will follow the teams and behind the scenes of the Grande Boucle. Filming began in March with eight teams to film the preparation for the race and will continue until the end of the event on July 24.

The eight teams monitored by Quadbox, the producer of the series are: AG2R-Citroën, Alpecin-Fenix, Bora-Hangsrohe, EF-Education, Groupama-FDJ, Ineos-Grenadiers, Jumbo-Visma and QuickStep. The American company that produces the series is co-owned by Box to Box films, which makes “Drive To Survive”. France Télévisions will be a partner in this docu-series. The organization of the Tour de France communicated: “This project is more than ever part of our global strategy which aims to make our sport even more accessible and to allow it to meet an even wider audience”. ASO thus speaks of the follow-up of eight emblematic teams.

Apart from F1 and cycling, Netflix had also signed contracts with the ATP and WTA at the start of the year for a follow-up to the tennis season. Filming thus began at the Australian Open. The World Golf Tour will also be a series on the platform. Enough to retain and bring the public a little closer to the actors of sport.
