Riyadh: It is estimated that more than half a million people will perform the Hajj in 2021, when the Kovid expansion is strong. According to the Saudi General Authority for Statistics, about 58,745 pilgrims arrived in Makkah, including foreigners. Last year, only domestic pilgrims from within the country were allowed to perform the Hajj, with strict health and safety precautions in light of the Kovid outbreak in Saudi Arabia.

Of these, about 50.7 per cent were males and 49.3 per cent were females. Foreigners made up 44 percent (25,745) of the total number of pilgrims. Of these, 63.9 per cent were males and 37.1 per cent were females. Children have not been allowed on the Hajj pilgrimage for the past two years. Earlier, the Ministry of Hajj had announced that pilgrims from foreign countries would be allowed to perform this year’s Hajj. The announcement of the quota for each country may be made soon.
