Microsoft is renaming its Android Your Phone companion app to Phone Link

by time news

Microsoft is renaming its Your Phone app to Phone Link and updating it with a design fix for Windows 11. Your device was launched over three years ago as the primary way to link your Android phone to Windows and avoid picking up your device to check for calls or notifications. The phone link is naturally a better description of the app, and it has now been updated to match Windows 11 design changes.

The phone link now places the notification panel up front, and the notifications tab is now pinned to the right panel. Microsoft has also moved the Messages, Photos, Apps, and Calls sections to the navigation bar above the phone link. The notification section has also been cleaned up to make it easier to see important notifications.

The updated Phone Link app includes a color palette and design compatible with Windows 11, with updated controls, illustrations, and icons. The Your Phone Companion app for Android is also being renamed Link to Windows, and both apps will share the same code.

In addition to the design changes, Microsoft is also making Phone Link available in China thanks to a partnership with Honor. Phone Link now supports Honor Magic V, Magic 4, and Magic 3 series of devices. Other than that, Phone Link’s best features are still largely limited to Samsung phones and Microsoft Surface Duo devices.

The latest update for Phone Link is available today, and with the next update to Windows 11, you’ll also be able to enable Phone Link just by scanning a QR code during setup.
