In Chennai, 978 employees of a food delivery service company have been prosecuted for violating road rules in a single day.
There are numerous mobile app based food delivery service companies operating in Chennai metropolis including Zwicky and Somato. While these companies promise to deliver food in the shortest possible time, food delivery staff are violating road rules, including speeding and violating signals. On behalf of the police, various awareness programs were conducted for food distribution drivers to reduce irregularities.
This was followed by a special audit for food delivery service personnel in the Chennai metropolis on Thursday. Of these, 978 cases were registered in a single day and a fine of one lakh 35 thousand 400 rupees was imposed. A case of violation of maximum signals has been registered.
