The jallikkattu competition was held on Thursday in Ramanathapuram panchayat near Thanjavur. More than 40 were injured when the cows hit.

Tanjore Kottatsiya Ranjith inaugurated the jallikkattu competition held at the Ramanathapuram Panchayat Thirapathi Amman Temple Grounds. 800 bulls from Jallikattil, Thanjavur, Vallam, Pudukottai, Ariyalur and Trichy districts participated.

The bulls were unloaded one by one after inspection by the Tanjore Animal Husbandry Department officials. 350 warriors rallied to suppress the bulls. Various prizes were given to the heroes who loved the cows and the owners of the bulls who did not.

During the competition, more than 40 people were injured when cows were hit. They were treated at a medical camp set up in the area. The seriously injured were rushed to Tanjore Medical College Hospital.

The arrangements for the Jallikkattu competition were made by Draupadiyamman Jallikkattu Assembly and the village patriots and the public.
