According to the host Entertainment Software Association (ESA), E3 2022 has been officially cancelled. ESA announced in January that the event would be held online only in 2022 due to “potential impacts of COVID-19 and safety concerns for exhibitors”, and now the online portion has been cancelled.

While canceling, ESA also confirmed that E3 will be back in the summer of 2023, and said in a statement that it will “devote all energy and resources to E3 next summer to create a rejuvenated physical and digital E3 experience”, and We hope to “ensure that the new E3 event can set new standards in the industry in both online/offline composite industry events and fan interaction.”

ESA will choose to cancel this year’s E3. To be honest, it’s a bit surprising. After all, when the epidemic situation in the United States was more worrying last year, online exhibitions were held, and many game companies published products and news with E3 as the focus. Relatively speaking, it seems that the epidemic in the United States this year has come to an end, and restrictions have been gradually loosened. As a result, it will not be held at all, just like in 2020.
