According to Toyota data, the official driving range is 516 kilometers for the basic version (i.e. the front-wheel drive version) and 470 kilometers for the senior version which is equipped with a dual propulsion system. In addition, with the introduction of the European version, Toyota emphasizes that buyers will be able to purchase an extension to the vehicle battery warranty (with a capacity of 71.4 kWh), under which Toyota will commit to maintaining 70% energy storage capacity for ten years – or a million km. In addition, Toyota will offer customers for the first time a dedicated lease program for the electric vehicle that will also allow the purchase of suitable vehicle charging infrastructure, maintenance and access to connected services.
The bz4x is considered a “turning car” for Toyota – the Japanese manufacturer has previously stated that it does not intend to move its entire product line to electric propulsion for the simple reason that it sells cars in many markets where there is no apparent intention to switch to an electric vehicle. In practice, other car manufacturers – from Stalantis to Mercedes-Benz – were quick to declare that they would only produce electric vehicles by 2030, but also noted in a side note “in small print” that this statement is only valid for Europe. In the case of Toyota, the weight of global markets in the sales pie – from Africa to South America – does not allow it to make such statements. The bz4x is scheduled to arrive in Israel during the second half of 2022.
