Hollywood actor Will Smith has resigned from the organization hosting the Oscars.
Actor Will Smith won the Best Actor award for his film ‘King Richard’ at the 94th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, USA. Actor Chris Rock, who had previously hosted the show, was joking. He joked about the health of actor Will Smith’s wife actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
This enraged Will Smith, who approached the stage and slapped presenter Chris Rock in the face, shocking the festival audience. Following this, actor Will Smith apologized that he was a little emotional and embarrassed by his action.
An Oscar Academy statement said Will Smith had been asked to leave the show after Chris Rock was slapped, but he refused. Will Smith is under disciplinary action for violating the Academy’s Code of Conduct. The decision will be taken at a meeting on April 18.
