by time news

The weather on Saturday will still be cold with snow and wind in the south-east, according to Météo-France, which has issued an orange ice snow vigilance in 19 departments from the south-west to Auvergne, from the center-east and for Corsica.

Snowfall continues overnight and Saturday morning on the Pyrenean foothills at low altitude.

The accumulations will be to watch especially on the side of Ariège. We will expect 2 to 5 cm in general, or even locally 7 to 15 cm.

As the hours pass, the snowfall will fade. On the Alps, 2 to 5 cm are expected in the plain. On the Massif Central, we will expect 5 to 10 cm from 400 m. In the Southern Alps, snow showers will concern heights from 400 m.

In the west of the country and up to the Belgian border, the sky will remain overcast in the morning.

Light showers will break out over Brittany. In the afternoon, some clearings will manage to develop. Cloudy periods may give a few drops in places on the Atlantic coast.

From Auvergne to Alsace Lorraine, the sky will be cloudy with a little snow in the morning on the plain and light rain in the second part of the day. There could be some snowfall in the afternoon on the terrain.

In the southeast, the sky will be variable. The clouds will prevail over the Côte d’Azur and in Corsica where the showers will be quite frequent. Note that the snow accumulations will be quite large on the Corsican relief around 600 m with 5 to 10 cm.

Mistral and tramontane will blow hard with gusts that can exceed 100 km/h. The westerly wind will also be strong over Corsica.

The minimums will remain cold with light frosts on the northern half, even -4/-5 degrees in Auvergne. In the southwest, we will expect between -1 and 3 degrees. In the southeast, 2 to 6 degrees. Highs will not exceed 1 to 5 degrees in the northeast. They will be between 5 and 10 degrees from north to south, up to 9 to 15 degrees on the shores of the Mediterranean.
