Aruppukkottai: Condemning the increase in petrol and diesel prices, the Marxist Communist Party (MCP) staged a protest in Aruppukkottai by tying a rope to an auto. Demonstration on behalf of the Marxist Communist Party took place in Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar district, condemning the increase in petrol, diesel and gas cylinder prices. CPM Thomas led the protest. City Secretary Kathamuthu and union Tamilselvaraj took the lead.

Demonstrators protested against the hike in petrol and diesel prices and condemned the United States for not controlling prices. During the protest, protesters started from the Agamudaiyar Mahal bus stand and dragged the auto along the Tiruchirappalli road to the MS Corner and the wood shop bus stand. They also wore evening gowns to the gas cylinder and marched against the United States.
