Revealed: Abramovich owns a billion-dollar yacht fleet

According to the Financial Times, in addition to the luxury yachts that left the port of Barcelona with the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Russian oligarch also owns the “38” and “Garson” yachts, valued at $ 38 million and $ 20 million respectively. Another yacht has been owned by the billionaire since 1998

An investigation by the economic newspaper The Financial Times reveals that the Jewish-Russian oligarch, billionaire Roman Abramovich, owns a fleet of five yachts valued at about $ 1 billion.

So far, the public has been exposed to two yachts owned by Abramovich – Solaris and Eclipse – valued at $ 474 million and $ 437 million, respectively. Both of these yachts left the port of Barcelona with the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, even before the EU blacklisted it – and are reportedly now moored at the Turkish tourist site Marmaris.

But according to the Financial Times, the Russian oligarch also owns the $ 38 million and $ 20 million yachts, which are moored in Antigua. The Antigua government did not know who owned the yachts until the newspaper was exposed, and the Caribbean Foreign Secretary, part of the British Virgin Islands, informed the British government that “the island will provide it with full assistance” in enforcing sanctions if requested. According to an investigation by the UK authorities, the company registered as the owner of both ships is Wenham Overseas Limited, which belongs to Abramovich.

In addition, a source close to the matter reported to the Financial Times that Abramovich still owns a fifth yacht – the Sussuro, which he bought in 1998 and then reportedly transferred ownership of it to his ex-wife.

It was recently reported that Abramovich was apparently poisoned and blinded for several hours along with peace negotiators in Ukraine, earlier this month, the alleged poisoning caused the skin to peel off their faces and temporary blindness, sources told the Daily Mail.

A representative of Abramovich confirmed earlier today that the oligarch suffered from the reported symptoms, but declined to give further details. He was allegedly poisoned a few weeks ago after a meeting in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, while acting as a “peacekeeper” during the Russian war in Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported.

After the meeting in Kiev on March 3, Abramovich and two senior members of the Ukrainian team developed symptoms that included red eyes, watery, sore eyes and peeling skin on their faces and hands, sources told the newspaper.

Abramovich, who received a Ukrainian request to help negotiate an end to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, “went blind for a few hours” and was treated at a hospital in Turkey, a source told the Guardian.

Analysts at investigative news site Bellingcat have confirmed that three members of the delegation – including Abramovich – who took part in the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia on March 3 experienced “symptoms consistent with chemical weapons poisoning.”

Everyone was in pain until the next morning. The three men ate only chocolate and drank water in the hours before the onset of symptoms. The next day, March 4, Abramovich and the others traveled from Kiev to the Ukrainian city of Lviv, on their way to Poland they still felt symptoms. They then moved to Istanbul, where they were treated before further negotiations.

The Kremlin first acknowledged last week that Abramovich was officially involved in early peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, but spokesman Dmitry Peskov said last Thursday that the oligarch no longer takes part in the negotiating team. “He did take part in the initial stage,” Peskov said, “now the negotiations are between the two groups, the Russians and the Ukrainians.”
