Initially stumbled and then grabbed

Batting first, Delhi lost both their openers to Gujarat’s 172-run target. Hardik Pandya (three), Prithviraj Shah (10), Mandeep Singh (18) and Loki Ferguson (18) were the top scorers for Delhi with 32 runs on the board. But then Lalit Yadav and Rishabh came together at the crease and slowly bowled Delhi. The duo put on a half-century partnership to give Delhi hope, but Lalit Yadav (25)’s run out was enough to put Delhi under pressure.

The story of Delhi ended in Loki’s double lock

But in the 15th over, Hardik’s strategy to bring in Loki Ferguson worked. Abhinav Manohar beautifully caught the ball (43 off 29 balls) which was carelessly batted in Loki’s shot ball. Gujarat hoped to beat Delhi, but Akshar Patel hit two fours in a row at the crease. But Akshar returned with a catch off wicketkeeper Matthew Wade off Loki’s third ball. In the next over, Shardul Thakur (2) was caught by Rashid Khan in front of the wicket. Rowman Powell (20 off 11 balls) was caught in front of the wicket by Shami in the 18th over. Resistance from Kuldeep Yadav (14 *) eased the pressure on Delhi.

For Gujarat, Loki Ferguson took four wickets for 28 runs in four overs while Mohammad Shami took two wickets for two runs and Hardik took one wicket for 19 runs. Gujarat’s Shubhman Gill, who had earlier lost the toss at the crease, put on a formidable half – century. Shubhman Gill was Gujarat’s top scorer with 84 off 46 balls. Khalil Ahmed took two wickets for Delhi.
