The 19/20 sets out to discover the lighthouse of Cordouan, in Gironde, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After nine years of work, it is once again accessible to visitors.

In Gironde, the Cordouan lighthouse has never been so majestic, despite its 400 years of existence. The lighthouse began in 2013 A long period renovation that has just been completed, Saturday, April 2. For the historical monument specialists who worked on the lighthouse, the challenge was artisanal, but this period of work was above all a human adventure.

For Thomas Dalisson and the three other lighthouse keepers, it’s a special season that started this weekend of April 2, one year after the lighthouse was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. “The lighthouse has changed enormously. Six years ago, we really had the impression of entering the lair of Poseidon, this lighthouse completely eaten away by salt, beaten by the wind, the rain. Today, it feels brand new.”says Thomas Dalisson. The tourists present for the reopening are delighted.
