Police have arrested Theni for smuggling 10 kg of cannabis in a government bus.
Police conducted an intensive vehicle search to curb the smuggling of cannabis and narcotics from Andhra Pradesh via Vellore. In this situation, the police led by Katpadi Police Inspector Anandan checked the vehicles at the Christianpet check post on the Tamil Nadu and Andhra border yesterday morning.
At that time, the police searched the vehicles including the bus coming from Andhra Pradesh with the help of Mopanai Simba. Police later raided a government bus from Tirupati to Tirupati and found one of them smuggling cannabis.
He was later apprehended by the police and interrogated. It was revealed that he was a 50-year-old king from Theni district. 10 kg of cannabis was seized from him. Police are investigating where the cannabis is being smuggled from. Andhra Pradesh Police have been informed about this.
Police in Andhra Pradesh are conducting an investigation as per the instructions of the Tamil Nadu Police. Mopanai Simbaku is undergoing special training as per the orders of District Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kannan to curb the rising incidence of cannabis smuggling in Vellore district. Based on the special training given to this dog for 45 days, the police are conducting vehicle inspection with its help.
