The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come up with the idea for a four-nation T20 series. PCB chairman Ramis Raja is set to present to the ICC the idea for a series involving Pakistan, India, Australia and England. Rameez Raja will present the idea at the ICC Board Meeting in Dubai next week.
The PCB estimates that the series will generate $ 650 million (approximately Rs 5,000 crore) in revenue. The ICC and the participating cricket boards will benefit greatly from the series. Associate countries will also receive a large share of the profits from the series. The PCB plans to hold the series in September-October. Teams will face each other once in a group stage.
India and Pakistan currently play only in ICC events and the Asia Cup. The last time the two countries played a bilateral series was in 2013.
India and Pakistan last played in the 2020 T20 World Cup. Pakistan had beaten India by 10 wickets in the match. Pakistan won the toss and elected to field. Pakistan surpassed India’s target of 152 for victory without losing a single wicket. Pakistan captain Babur Assam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan eased Pakistan to victory. Both scored half-centuries and remained unbeaten. Captain Virat Kohli (57) led India to a respectable score. Shaheen Afridi shocked India by knocking out Rohit (0), Rahul (3) and Kohli.
