The government has approved the practice of setting daily fuel prices in line with international crude oil prices. Accordingly, oil companies are adjusting petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices, which have remained the same for the past 137 days, were hiked on March 22. Accordingly, on the 22nd, a liter of petrol was sold for 101 rupees 16 rupees and diesel for 92 rupees 19 rupees.

Since then, petrol and diesel prices have continued to rise. With the exception of a few days in between, all other days the rising fuel prices have caused a stir among motorists.

Petrol price in Chennai has been hiked by 38 paise per liter, according to an announcement by oil companies this morning. Accordingly, a liter of petrol sells for Rs 109.34. Diesel price has also gone up by 38 paise to Rs 99.42 per liter.

In the last 14 days, petrol price has gone up by Rs 7.94 and diesel by Rs 7.99, causing a stir among motorists. As petrol and diesel continue to rise, people can be seen lamenting that the prices of essential commodities and their travel expenses are increasing at the same time.
