Ross Taylor, one of the greatest cricketers New Zealand has ever seen, has retired. He had earlier announced that he would retire after the ODI series against the Netherlands. The series ended today. This marked the end of Taylor’s one – and – a – half – decade – long career. The star was seen feeling very emotional at the farewell ceremony held before the match. The Kiwis, who batted first in the match, were bowled out for 14 in the fourth over. Van Beek caught Taylor in his own bowling. The legendary batsman was honored with a Guard of Honor by the opposing team members while batting. New Zealand won the match by 115 runs. Batting first, New Zealand scored 333 for 8 in the allotted 50 overs. Will Young (120) and Martin Guptill (106) shone for the Kiwis. In reply, the Netherlands were all out for 218 in 42.3 overs. Stephen Myber is the Netherlands’ top scorer with 64 runs. Matt Henry took 4 wickets for New Zealand.

Taylor made his national jersey debut in the March 2006 ODI against the West Indies. Taylor played in 112 Tests. Taylor shares the record for most Test appearances for New Zealand with former captain Daniel Vettori.
Taylor is the first player to play more than 100 matches in all three formats. Taylor has the most matches (445), runs (18074) and centuries (40) for New Zealand. He has 8581 runs from 233 ODIs and maintains a batting average of 48.2. He also has 1909 runs from 102 T20s. He has scored 1017 runs in 55 IPL matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals.
