Islamabad: Imran Khan’s PTI has nominated former Chief Justice Kulsar Ahmed to be Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister. Opposition parties in Pakistan have passed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan following a severe economic crisis. The day before yesterday, a vote of no confidence was to be taken in Parliament. But in a sudden twist the Deputy Speaker rejected the resolution. At the same time, President Arif Alvi ordered the dissolution of parliament on the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran. Thus, the new government is to be elected within 90 days.

In this context, President Alvi said that under Article 94 of the Constitution of Pakistan, Imran will continue as the current Prime Minister until the caretaker Prime Minister takes office. In a statement, he said, “Under Section 224A (4) of the Constitution of Pakistan, Imran Khan will continue as the caretaker Prime Minister until the caretaker Prime Minister is appointed. The ruling and opposition MPs must act in unison in electing the caretaker Prime Minister, ”he said.

Following this, work to select a caretaker Prime Minister has intensified. Former Chief Justice Kulsar Ahmed has been nominated for the post of caretaker Prime Minister by Imran’s PTI party.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan yesterday held a five-judge bench in connection with the dissolution of parliament. The Supreme Court then stressed the need for a confidence vote. The trial is adjourned until today. Meanwhile, a massive protest led by Imran Khan was held in front of the parliament last night against the foreign conspiracy going on against his government.
