Andorra announced this morning (Tuesday) the release of the captain of the Israeli national team, Gal Makal. “Due to personal reasons,” the club said in a statement, “both sides have reached an agreement on the termination of his contract for the current season.”
In fact, Stick has managed to appear in just ten games this season – six in the Spanish league and four in the EuroCup. He suffered from blatant misfortune, which included injuries and infection in the corona. Things got complicated in the last window of the Israeli team, when he was left for both games in the World Cup qualifiers, even though the club did not want him to do so – and he returned to the team with a fracture in his palm.
At age 34, the coordinator will recalculate a route. In the last nine years, since marching Maccabi Haifa to win the national championship, he has played in five leagues around the world (Spain, Italy, Russia, Serbia and the NBA), while in the middle he had a season and a half with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Andorra will complete its performances in the first stage of the Eurocup tomorrow, and has already secured its place in the playoffs. In the domestic league it is complicated at the bottom and is ranked 15th, with the same balance as Zaragoza and San Pablo Burgos below it.
