Could the Galaxy Z Fold 4 come with an S-Pen?

by time news

Samsung has just launched the Galaxy S22 Ultra with a silo slot designed to hold the S-Pen when not in use and this is the first non-Galaxy Note smartphone from Samsung to come with this exceptional feature and fully adopt the light stylus.

And based on some reports and a number of leaks, it is possible that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 phone will also have a slot dedicated to storing the S-Pen while it is not in use.

But that’s not all, according to a report from Naver, a Korean tech magazine, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is likely to come with UTG technology, which is an ultra-thin glass and Samsung will most likely put it on the market as Super UTG technology.

The new glass that will be used in the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is said to be thinner and more flexible than the type used in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Super UTG glass will be more resistant to scratches, making it safer to use the S-Pen.

It is known that the Korean company introduced a stylus dedicated to its foldable phones called the S Pen Fold Edition, which has a softer tip to reduce its force during pressure on the screen, and this is the only way to protect the UTG screen used in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 from scratches and abrasions.

However, many users have complained about how smooth the screen is and is easily damaged. Therefore, it appears that Samsung is looking to adopt the new UTG technology. But the technology is still not ready for use with the regular S-Pen.

While it is likely that UTG technology in upcoming foldable phones will provide a high resistance to scratches, it is likely that it will not be as strong as the glass screens used with traditional non-foldable phones.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 isn’t ready for the S-Pen yet

After Samsung made its final decision to stop production of the Galaxy Note series, it tried hard to compensate users with the features that they have missed since the absence of this series with other flagship phones.

The company introduced the S-Pen feature with its flagship phones last year, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series, but you always had to buy an external “pod” that allows you to keep the pen.

So Samsung has taken an extra step forward with the S-Pen slot being built into the Galaxy S22 Ultra and likely the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will come with the same feature in the near future.

Unfortunately, all the rumors are that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is not yet ready to take advantage of the S-Pen support and therefore it may not come with the UTG technology that Samsung intends to use with the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
