Kannur: The CPM and the Congress are looking at KV Thomas, a senior Congress activist, during its biggest convention in Kannur, the CPM’s stronghold. The decision has been put on hold in suspense without confirming that the party leadership will not attend the seminar even though the party leadership has sternly told them not to. KV Thomas knows that action is guaranteed if he participates, but when he comes to participate, he has done many calculations.
KV Thomas has said that the decision will be announced tomorrow. In addition, KV Thomas’s constant comments about the need to attend the seminar have been discussed in the meantime. KV Thomas is upset with the party for not getting a seat in the Assembly elections despite wanting to contest. Even after the Rajya Sabha elections were not considered, the party came up with allegations of rejection and humiliation. Meanwhile, I was invited to speak at a seminar of the party congress in Kannur.
Shashi Tharoor MP and INTUC leader R Chandrasekharan, who had decided to attend the party congress, were denied permission by party president Sonia Gandhi when they were informed that they were not willing to attend. Of these, only KV Thomas stopped the decision in suspense. KPCC president K Sudhakaran is of the view that those who violate the party’s decision will be out of the party. But organizers are still announcing that he will be attending the event.

CPM Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan said that anyone who wants democracy and secularism can come to the seminar. It is hoped that KV Thomas will come. Jayarajan said the Congress would regret banning Congress leaders in the future. Minister P. Mohammad Riyaz also said that the secular minds within the Congress were divided over the ban. It has come up as a big emotion. Mohammad Riyaz said the activists themselves would correct the leadership.
