The FBI captured along with Spanish police seize the yacht of Victor Wexelberg, an associate of President Putin whose fortune is estimated at $ 15 billion, due to US sanctions. “We will continue to use any legal tool to pursue the assets of oligarchs”

U.S. FBI agents, in conjunction with Spanish police, seized the luxury yacht of Russia’s third richest man yesterday (Monday).

Agents and police captured the yacht of Victor Wexelberg, a Russian-Israeli oligarch close to President Vladimir Putin. This follows the US sanctions imposed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.

Agents along with officers and investigators from the Spanish Civil Guard, boarded the luxury ship, known as the “Tango”, while it was moored in Palma de Mallorca, and seized it.

The value of the yacht is estimated at about $ 90 million, Wexelberg denies any connection to it, but the US Department of Justice claims that according to documents in his possession, Wexelberg bought the yacht in 2011.

The head of the FBI, Christopher Ray, promised: “We will continue to use any legal tool to pursue the assets of dedicated Russian oligarchs – wherever and in whatever way they hide them.”
