There are days when time is upon us and you don’t even have time to stop by the supermarket for a moment to buy a couple of things. And in these stressful days, when you don’t know what to eat for dinner, but you don’t feel like ordering prepared food either, one option is to make the buy online and that it is in a few minutes at our door.
The idea of someone bringing the groceries home is not new. It could already be done through the websites of large supermarkets, but, if it is done this way, there are certain peculiarities. For example, there is always a higher minimum amount and it takes longer to arrive.
Also, it was already possible make small purchases through platforms like Glovobut this was not its main function.
Now, for a few months, a ‘boom’ of apps dedicated to this type of service has exploded in our country. The operation is as follows: the user makes the purchase through his mobile. Once you order it, from a department store, an employee makes the purchase for you, and then a delivery man takes it home. All in a stretch of between 10 and 15 minutes.
Bring
One of the apps with the greatest presence in Spain is Getir. The company, of Turkish origin, was founded in 2015 and landed in Spain in September 2021. It entered by absorbing the startup Blok, which had only been in the world of home delivery for a few months. Now, Getir has a presence in five Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Zaragoza and Valencia.
Its popularity grew thanks to word of mouth, also because of its discounts. Regularly, the app offers discounts to your customers if they make the purchase through this channel. In addition, the products available are adapted to the area, which is why local brands are chosen.
Gorillas
Gorillas is another option so that the purchase arrives at home in a few minutes. It distributes, for the moment, in Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia, and continues to expand. Furthermore, they ensure that are associated with brands from each cityso they can cover “local tastes”.
The operation is the same as that of its predecessor Getir: it is ordered through the app, and in a quarter of an hour the purchase is at home. Shipping costs 1.80 euros. Likewise, they advocate this type of consumption because, they argue, it is a way to avoid food waste, since only what is consumed is bought. All of their delivery guys use electric bikes.
Gopuff
Gopuff is the latest app to arrive at the party. In Spain it only operates in Madrid at the moment. The operation, of course, is very similar to the previous options. In this case, the first three purchases have 10 euro discount if you reach 20 in total. The shipping fee is €1.89, regardless of the products that are selected.
One of their quirks is the ‘Puff Points’ system they have. In this way, customers earn points with each product they buy. And then they can exchange them for rewards for the next orders.
