Shahar Reshef dropped from second place to third in the windsurfing competition at the Princess Cup in Palma, after struggling in the slalom, but is still in a good position to win a medal in the prestigious competition, with three more skiers in the top ten.

The Israeli team competed today (Wednesday) with three slalom cruises at sea. Reshef, the leading Israeli in the IQ Foil competition, was disqualified in the first cruise and the other two finished in 7th and 5th places. As a result, it dropped one place in the ranking to third place.

The other windsurfers recorded quality results and there are three more from Shahar Tzobari’s team who are in the top ten even now. Daniela Peleg is currently ranked sixth (3,7,3), Maya Morris seventh after an excellent day (3,1,3) and Shahar Tibi ninth (7,1,9). Sharon Kantor dropped to 12th place in the overall ranking (19,7,17).

In men’s windsurfing, only two slalom cruises were made because the cruises began at noon due to a weak wind and rain in Palma de Mallorca. The one who recorded a great performance at sea was Yoav Omar who finished in both cruises twice in 3rd place, so he climbed in the overall ranking to ninth place and is only four points away from seventh place. Tomer Vardimon (33,3) is ranked 20th, Tom Reuveni (5th and disqualification) is ranked 22nd but has filed an appeal.

In a 470 mixed sailing event, the Israeli crew of Nitai Hasson and Noa Lasri are ranked eighth overall, after finishing their two cruises today in 10th place. It’s an improvement of one place, but the podium is moving away from them, because the gap has increased to 17 points between them and the team ranked in third place.
