Pune: Lucknow Super Giants will go down today for their third consecutive win in the IPL 2022. The rivals are Delhi Capitals. The match will be played at 7.30 pm at DY Patil Sports Academy Mumbai.
Rishabh Pant’s Delhi will be back to winning ways. KL Rahul’s Lucknow comes in confident of further victories. A face-off between two contenders for the future Indian captain. The Delhi line-up, which had to start the season with substitutes, will be stronger this time. David Warner and Antri Norcia will join the team after completing the quarantine. Current opener Tim Seifert is guaranteed to miss out. If Mustafizur Rahman, who bowls well, is retained, one of the Indian bowlers is likely to be left out.
Lucknow also had some consolation news as the entire team was not available in the first matches. Australia star all-rounder Marcus Stones could be replaced by Andrew Tie or Evin Lewis. Jason Holder is also likely to join the team. If captain KL Rahul and Quinton Deco give a good start, things will be easier for Lucknow.
The main problem plaguing both the teams is the slowness of the power play and the loss of wickets. Delhi are the second team with the lowest run average in powerplay. Lucknow also lost wickets in the first six overs. With Warner joining the ranks of the opposition, the Lucknow bowling line-up must also be more careful.
Cummins show yesterday
Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat. Mumbai Indians beat India by five wickets. KKR overtook Mumbai by 161 runs in 16 overs. Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma and Kieron Pollard’s batting performance helped the Mumbai Indians to a good score after an early collapse. Suryakumar scored 52 off 36 balls and Tilak 38 * off 27 balls while Mumbai scored 161 for four in 20 overs. Pollard’s 22 off 5 balls in the final over to give Pat Cummins the lead. If Pollard had beaten Cummins, the Aussies would have paid back with interest.
