Pune: Australian batsman Pat Cummins is one of the best pacers in contemporary cricket. The No. 1 bowler in Test cricket was dealt a major blow when he reached the maiden match of the IPL 15 season (IPL 2022). But Cummins was later found to be repaying what he got with the bat, along with interest. The cricketing world watched Cummins’ shot with astonishment. Cummins’ reaction after the match was unbelievable as he hit a half-century off 14 balls.
‘I’m going to be the most amazing with that innings. Glad to be able to put out a great performance. It was the first game of the season. The attempt was to take advantage of the short boundary. Much has changed since last season as the megastar auction took place. “Kolkata has the best team,” Cummins said after the match.
Kolkata skipper Shreyas Iyer said he did not expect such a performance from Pat Cummins. Shreyas said most of the balls were bowled by Cummins during training in the Nets on the match.
Cummins, who reached the crease in the seventh, smashed a half-century off 14 balls to give Kolkata an incredible victory. In the 15th over, Pat Cummins smashed a real Jaspreet Bumra for a four and a six. Venkatesh Iyer and Cummins also scored 12 runs in this over. Cummins struck in the 16th over against Australia’s teammate Daniel Sams. Cummins hit 35 runs in the over, including four sixes and two fours. Cummins smashed Sams’ last ball to the gallery to give Kolkata a convincing five-wicket victory.
At the end of the game, Cummins was unbeaten on 56 off 15 balls with six sixes and four fours. Venkatesh Iyer was unbeaten on 50 off 41 balls. Earlier, batting first, Mumbai scored 161 for four in 20 overs while Cummins conceded 49 in 4 overs. Kieron Pollard hit 22 off 5 balls to beat Pat. But then Cummins saw the match written in his name. The man of the match was Pat Cummins, who took two wickets for Mumbai in addition to his half – century.
