by time news

Arrival of the fifth : 16 – 2 – 13 – 5 – 9

Before returning to the Parisian cinders for the traditional quintés on Friday evening, the event of the day was set at the Deauville racecourse (Calvados). Sixteen competitors were in contention on the fiber sand track for a journey of 1,900 m.

After biding his time, close to Full Precious (#1) and Hank Moody (n°15), the two animators, Kahuna (n°16) went on the offensive halfway through the finish line and secured several lengths ahead of his pursuers. Ridden by Fabrice Veron, this 5-year-old gelding trained by Francois Rohaut then contained the final thrust of Khochenko (No. 2), his most dangerous rival, which allows him to win his first quinté for his third participation. This 5-year-old gelding confirms his rise after winning this winter on the Cagnes-sur-Mer track (Alpes-Maritimes).

Still delayed at the beginning of the last bend, Khochenko (#2), forced to start from stall #16, regained considerable ground all the way down the straight and finished at the winner’s hip. Noted also by its end of stroke, rope side, Super Super Sonic (n°13) took third place and overtook Exciting (n°5) which gave the impression of a better classification mid-straight. The fifth is completed by My Charming Prince (n°9) which clearly precedes Sagano (#8) and King Cobra (n°7).
