The ruling opposition DMK The AIADMK, with the support of the parties involved, has resorted to political maneuvers to maintain its rule by hiding what the bills passed unanimously demanded a complete exemption from the NEET election. While the rulers were on stage, in order to overcome the strength of our struggle and the turbulent mood of the people, a resolution was passed of 7.5 per cent in medical education for public school students who pass the NEET examination. The rulers of the day were blindsided as it lay dormant for the governor’s approval. The then opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam fought for it.

Under my leadership a huge protest was held in front of the House of Governors. Thereafter, it was passed by the then Governor Banwarilal Purohit after approving the 7.5 per cent reservation for public school students in medical studies.

Strong arguments were made on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu to secure the 7.5 per cent reservation which gives priority to government school students. On behalf of the federal government, which argued in this case, “On the basis of One Nation – One Merit Need to choose Conducted. Senior advocates appearing before the High Court on behalf of the State of Tamil Nadu effectively echoed the need for a 7.5 per cent quota giving priority to public school students, putting forward strong legitimate arguments against such arguments put forward by the Central Government in a manner that deprives the state of its rights and against the state education system.

After hearing the arguments on the welfare petitions, the Chennai High Court upheld the judgment, upholding the state government’s right to provide 7.5 per cent reservation for public school students and upholding justice.

In view of this significant judgment, the Attorney General of Tamil Nadu, R.
