Chennai: Tamil Nadu women’s team defeated Madhya Pradesh in the National Basketball Championship. The 5-day matches were played on Thursday at the Nehru Indoor Stadium. In the women’s category, Group ‘E’ beat Tamil Nadu – Madhya Pradesh 87-63, with Satya 18, Neeta 12, Rajeshwari 13, Divyani Gangwal 19 and Priya Sharma 19 in Madhya Pradesh. In another match of the same division, Indian Railways defeated Kerala 86-73. In Group F, Telangana beat Punjab and Karnataka beat Assam. In Group H, Rajasthan beat Haryana, Odisha beat West Bengal and in Group G, Uttar Pradesh beat Delhi. In the men’s Group F match, Tamil Nadu defeated Indian Railways 85-74, while Arvind Kumar (29), Arvind (19), Mueen Peck (18), Santosh Mani (11), Praveen Kumar (18) and Balpreet Singh (27) scored for India. In the same category, Uttarakhand beat Haryana. In Group E, Services beat Kerala 88-69 and Karnataka beat Punjab 90-81. In Group G, Uttar Pradesh beat Gujarat 81-63, in Group H Delhi-West Delhi. They defeated Bengal and Madhya Pradesh – Mizoram.
