Will lead to a diplomatic crisis? Israel v. Russia

by time news

Following the war in Russia, Israel today supported the decision in the UN General Assembly to suspend Russia from its membership in the UN Human Rights Council, which could lead to a worsening of relations between the two countries.

Israel today (Thursday) supported the decision in the UN General Assembly to suspend Russia from its membership in the UN Human Rights Council, against the background of the war in Ukraine.

The vote took place at the UN General Assembly, with 93 voting in favor, 24 voting against and 58 abstaining.

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said after Israel’s support, “The vote today does not change our position on the UN Council, which is an extremist, morally flawed body.”

He goes on to call the body “essentially biased and anti-Israel, which has been exploited since its inception by the main countries violating human rights in the world as a political tool, among other things to attack Israel.”
