Apple recently started rolling out the first beta version of iOS 15.4.1 for iPhone users and the company stopped signing iOS 15.4. This means that Apple iPhone users who have new iOS updates can no longer downgrade to iOS 15.4.
So if you’re already using iOS 15.4 or updated to iOS 15.4.1, you can’t downgrade even if you want to.
iOS 15.4 was released last month with several notable features that Apple showcased when it introduced iOS 15 last year. It has been one of the “biggest” mid-season updates for iPhone users and offers the option to unlock the iPhone using FaceID while wearing the skin.
And with iOS 15.4, iPhone users get more than 37 new emoji, including faces, hand gestures, and household objects, and users can now choose separate skin tones for each hand in the handshake emoji.
Apart from this, Apple also added new features to SharePlay, prior to iOS 15.4, one had to start a FaceTime call before one could start a SharePlay activity in a supported app, now you can start SharePlay from FaceTime and SharePlay sessions. It can be launched directly from the supported apps.
Apple regularly stops signing old codes after releasing a new version of iOS because it allows the company to keep more devices on feature-rich versions, and also protects users from hackers trying to use newly discovered weak links.
Although the company does not recommend downgrading to an earlier version of iOS, iPhone users who jailbreak their devices often prefer this process.
Users who experience battery issues and any other errors when installing a new update for their iOS version are trying to downgrade their operating system, and this week Apple also started rolling out the first beta versions of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5.
