The price of electricity shoots up 56% this Saturday and once again exceeds 240 euros/MWh

The average price of electricity in it wholesale market will skyrocket again this Saturday, with a rise in 56,16% with respect to Friday, thus cutting the streak of falls and returning to be above the level of the 240 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

Specifically, the average price of the ‘pool’ for this Saturday will be 241.59 euros/MWh, almost 87 euros more expensive than the 154.7 euros/MWh on Friday, according to data published by the Operator of the Iberian Energy Market (OMIE).

In this way, the wholesale electricity market will once again recover the high levels that it has been registering in recent months, after the truce that it gave this Friday with a price that was the lowest since last February 19, before the start of the war in ukraineand which has made it possible to have especially low prices in some hours (with 7 euros/MWh between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.) due to the significant contribution of solar and wind power.

Maximum price between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

The maximum price of electricity for this Saturday will be between 9:00 p.m. and the 10:00 p.m., with 294.88 euros/MWh and there will be minimums between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., of 184.67 euros/MWh.

Compared to just a year ago, the pool price for this Saturday will be 115.24% higher than the 71.87 euros/MWh of April 9, 2021.
