Voting for the French presidential election has begun in Pondicherry and Karaikal.
Twelve candidates are running in France’s twelfth presidential election, including incumbent President Emanuelle Macron. 4 thousand 564 French citizens living in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala are voting in this election. The French embassy has set up polling stations in Chennai, Pondicherry and Karaikal.
French citizens line up to cast their ballots at the French Consulate in Pondicherry and at the Allianz French polling booths in Karaikal. The candidate who gets the absolute majority in the first round election will be declared the President. Otherwise the second round of elections will be held on the 24th for the first two candidates who get the most votes and the President will be elected.
