The reserve dose was started for those over 18 years of age

Kovid vaccine reserve doses have been introduced in the country by private vaccination centers for all those over 18 years of age. Vaccine recipients must pay for it.

The government said in a statement that it would continue and accelerate the ongoing first-dose, second-dose and booster dose distributions for health workers, veterans and those over 60 through government vaccination centers. The statement said 96 per cent of people aged 15 and above had received at least one dose of Kovid and 83 per cent had received two doses.

The government’s latest move comes in the wake of mounting covid spreads in many countries and some finding it difficult to travel abroad due to non-acceptance of the third dose. Countries like Israel do not accept that vaccination is complete unless they receive a booster dose.

Who should take the reserve dose?

Those over 18 years of age and those who have completed the second dose and are nine months old are eligible for this reserve dose. The vaccine will be available from April 10. This dose is available at all private vaccination centers.

Mixing is not allowed

The reserve dose will be given under the same vaccine brand as the first and second dose. This means that those who receive two doses of covaxin will receive the covacin reserve dose and those who choose coviShield will receive covi-shield.
