Composer A.R. Actor Nasser explained why he admires Rahman.
The South Indian Confederation of Industry Conference on behalf of the South Indian Media and Entertainment Department is being held at the Trade Center in Nandambakkam, Chennai.
The event was attended by Union Minister L Murugan, composer AR Rahman, Satyajothi Films Thiagarajan, Pepsi President RK Selvamani and Actors Guild President Nasser.
On the show, composer A.R. Rahman was presented with the Icon Award by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting L.K. Presented by Murugan. Speaking on the occasion, Nasser, President of the Actors Guild, said:
A. R. I do not praise Rahman for the two Oscars he bought or for the songs he composed. I commend him for starting the College of Music so that the next generation will learn the trick he just learned. We need to share the potential of people of other languages, not just one cinema with language boundaries. There is a lot we need to learn in Hindi cinema. The wealth that is in learning, is in nothing else. They have raised the DTS tax burden from 1.5% to 10% again. Tax cuts for small films can be helpful. “Our representatives are talking to the finance minister about this,” he said.
Similarly, director RK Selvamani said, “Out of 1000 films made in Indian cinema, 600 are made by South Indian cinema. When we buy gold, we pay for it, but we do not buy cinema. % Of us are day laborers. If the government gives us the legal protection we need, we will rebuild ourselves.
