Canberra: Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that federal elections in Australia will be held on May 21. Elections will be held for 151 seats in the House of Representatives and 40 seats in the Senate. At present, Morrison’s Liberal Alliance has 75 seats and Labor has 68 seats. The Labor Party is currently leading in opinion polls. But in 2019, despite the Labor Party’s lead in the polls, the Scott Morrison government won.
The Liberal Party has been in power in Australia for the past nine years. The opposition Labor Party, led by Anthony Albanese, is preparing for a strong comeback this time around.
