Vijay’s ‘Beast’ – Screen Review – What’s Nelson?

by time news

‘Beast’ is a film directed by Nelson and starring Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Selvaragavan. The film is produced by Sun Pictures.

The militants are taking control of a shopping mall in Chennai. A line story of the film is about a former ‘RAW’ agent who accidentally gets trapped in the mall and how he rescues the mall from the terrorists.

Most of the scenes are easily predictable as the story has been told to some extent in the already released trailer. It is the same story seen in many Vijaykanth films as the man who saves the people from the extremists who imprison the people to free the leader of the extremists.

When extremists imprison people in films like this, there is a kind of buzz among the audience. But the big drawback is that the Beast film does not make any such impression from the beginning to the final scene.

Director Nelson’s previous films would have said the most serious things mixed with comedy. That was the strength of the films. The comedy in this film does not lend itself too big. There are a lot of comedians like VTV Ganesh, Satish along with Redin Kingsley, Yogi Babu, Sunil Reddy who are coming in Nelson films. But, it’s not just comedy.

Anirudh’s songs, which have already been released and are successful, are all well shot in the film. Beast Mode is used as the background music for the song. But the background music had no impact as most of the scenes were not strong.

Cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa has made a great transition through his cinematography to see this story that often takes place around a shopping mall. The fight scenes are well filmed.

Vijay is a former soldier named Veeragavan. The big picture on the face is reminiscent of the rogue image vijay without showing any emotion. He also utters the verse of the rogue film, ‘I will not listen to myself if a prostitute has made a decision.’

Vijay carries the whole picture on his shoulders. Only his presence and acting have contributed to the vibrancy of the film. Director Selvaragavan’s performance next to him is good. His subtitle accents, in some places, have aided the humor. Pooja Hegde is used only for songs like the usual Tamil film heroine.

The weakness of the film is the very poorly written screenplay. Everyone knows that Vijay will save the people from terrorists anyway. But what matters is how he saves?

The reason for the success of the film is that ‘Doctor’ shows Sivakarthikeyan rescuing children with brilliant ideas while keeping a normal family. But, without anything like that, showing that Vijay wins by fighting strong extremists diminishes the interest of the film.

Serious Vijay fans can catch this movie. Beast would have been a film suitable for audiences from all walks of life if there had been more focus on the screenplay.
